The well at the orphanage has been in for three years now. A bore hole was drilled 67 metres deep, and a pump lifts the water up into a10,000 litre tank, which provides all the fresh water we need, for drinking, washing, toilets and showers.

A lot of water is also used when mixing cement for the building projects, and to water the vegetables which we grow at the orphanage, to help with the feeding of the children

The well project actually generates a reasonable income for the orphanage as well. The water is sold at reduced rates to the local people, who normally have to buy their water from the government. The money goes towards the maintenance of the well, to keep it in good working order, and helps to pay for smaller projects round and about the orphanage.
